Vodafone Ireland has delivered a significant upgrade to its mobile network infrastructure in Thurles.

The upgrade in Thurles includes the enhancement of five sites in the area, designed to further boost coverage, speed, and reliability for residents, businesses, and visitors alike.
These site upgrades have expanded 5G coverage in the area, delivering faster download and upload speeds and a significantly enhanced call experience for customers.
Vodafone says residents and businesses in Thurles can expect to see immediate improvements in their connectivity, and even more reliable coverage indoors and in previously low-signal areas.
Following Tipperary’s win at the All-Ireland Hurling Final, their homecoming at Semple Stadium resulted in a huge surge in network demand, with over 45,000 fans in attendance.
Following the investment in Thurles’ sites, the network matched the demand, delivering connectivity for over five times the usual traffic, and highlighting the importance of such investments to serve the area's needs.
Commenting, Sheila Kavanagh, Network Director, Vodafone Ireland said that Vodafone’s strong customer base in Tipperary will benefit significantly from this local investment: “We’re proud to bring enhanced connectivity to Thurles and to play our part in supporting the town’s digital future. The 45,000 fans who attended the homecoming of the Liam McCarthy was the perfect test for our upgraded network with very high levels of data used, no doubt from thousands of selfies and videos shared from the celebrations! This upgrade is about more than just faster speeds—it’s about empowering people to live, work, and thrive in their own communities. It is just one of many upgrades planned under our five-year investment, fulfilling our commitment to delivering seamless connectivity and remaining Always On for our customers.”
