Last week, Thurles became the backdrop for the new short film Reborning, which completed its principal photography over three days in the town. The production brought together a team of talented filmmakers, with filming taking place around The Source Arts Centre, Thurles Town Park and playground, and surrounding housing estates.

Reborning is written by award-winning playwright and screenwriter Tzarini Meyler from Tipperary Town, directed by Alanna MacNamee, and produced by Tipperary-based producer Jayne Foley. The film stars Thurles native Roseanna Purcell (Fair City), alongside Clare actress Lisa O’Connor (Call The Midwife) and a strong ensemble cast.

Reborning is a story about motherhood, hidden rituals, silent connections, and the weight of love that doesn’t go away, even when there’s nothing left to hold.

Producer Jayne Foley said:

“It was a real joy to film in Thurles. The welcome we received from the community, from residents to local businesses, made the experience incredibly special. We’re very proud to have created this story here in Tipperary and look forward to sharing it with audiences soon.”
