On Saturday, November 29, Con McNamara from the Tipperary Branch of the Irish Red Cross received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the Irish Red Cross Awards, which were held at Croke Park, Dublin.
For Con it was a moment to remember when he was called upon to receive this well deserved award.

Con received this well deserved Lifetime Achievement Award for giving more than 50 years as an Irish Red Cross volunteer.
Since joining the Tipperary branch when it was formed in February 1973, Mr McNamara has been a pillar of the Irish Red Cross Movement – he drove patrons to the 1979 Papal Ceremonies in Limerick and assisted in major Irish Red Cross migrant support efforts for the Vietnamese Boat people, Bosnian war refugees and Ukrainian migrants.
His dedication has touched countless lives across Co Tipperary and Munster.
Con has been an active first aider and ambulance driver until the age of 81.
Although recent health issues have seen him step back from driving and event cover, Con continues to serve as Branch Treasurer.

Con attended many sporting events in his native Tipperary over the years.
Whether it was horse racing at Limerick Junction, or local games of hurling, football, and soccer, churn rolling, equestrian, athletics, festivals or anything that merited the assistance of the Red Cross, Con was always available to assist in any way.
Some of his colleagues from Tipperary town travelled to the capital to show their support for Con at the awards ceremony.
On behalf of the Tipperary Town community, I would like to join with his colleagues in congratulating Con on what is a very well deserved award, for a lifetime of service to the Irish Red Cross.
