The National Directorate for Fire and Emergency Management has issued a severe weather warning code Status Red for Tipperary "due to the unprecedented and life-threatening Storm Éowyn".
In a statement on Wednesday evening, the Tipperary County Council said: "This storm is not to be taken lightly—it has the potential to be a significant and historic weather event that poses a serious risk to life.
"Storm Éowyn is expected to bring southerly gale force winds becoming westerly, with severe, damaging and destructive gusts in excess of 130km/h.
"The red weather warning is valid from 6am to noon on Friday, January 24, 2025."

The council added: "The public is strongly urged not to travel on Friday during the red weather warning and to avoid unnecessary travel after it passes, as the extremely strong winds will result in fallen trees and power lines, destruction to property, flying debris, road blockages, and cancellations of events and transport.
"Public safety is of utmost importance during this critical time. Residents in affected areas are advised to shelter in place, secure their property, and avoid unnecessary risks.
"Updates and advice will be provided through local and national media as well as the Council's Facebook, Twitter pages, and website."
Additional precautions to take during the storm:
- Essential services will continue operating based on advice from Met Éireann
- Prepare for power outages and ensure mobile phones are fully charged
- Stay away from fallen live wires and report any issues to ESB Networks immediately
