Alice Maher presents an illustrated lecture in Thurles

In advance of the ‘30 Years, Artists, Places’ launch Tipperary-born Artist Alice Maher will present a lecture on her work in The Source Arts Centre auditorium at 3.30pm on Thursday, June 9th.

Born in 1956 Alice Maher was educated at the University of Limerick and the Crawford College of Art Cork, later receiving an MA in fine art from the University of Ulster, and, in 1987, a Fulbright Scholarship to San Francisco Art Institute.

Her work involves many different media including painting, drawing, sculpture, film, animation, print, photography and installation.

Alice has exhibited widely in Ireland, England and the United States and represented Ireland in the 22nd Sao Paolo Biennale. Maher’s work can be seen in the public collections of the Irish Museum of Modern Art; Dublin City Gallery The Hugh Lane; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and the Arts Councils of Ireland and Northern Ireland as well as in many private collections in Ireland, England, France and America. Alice Maher’s 2004 piece ‘The Snail Chronicles’ features in the '30 Years, Artists, Places' exhibition from Thursday, June 9th to Wednesday, July 13th.
