The search for the Pride of Tipperary 2016 is underway and the Pride Committee welcomes any aspiring young lady to enter and enjoy an amazing two-week festival experience.
“It is hard to believe that another successful year has almost passed and we would encourage any young woman to come forward who would be interested in taking part in an experience that will leave them with memories to last them a life time. It is a fantastic two weeks and a most magical year as Pride for the lucky lady,” said Chairperson Brian English.
The Pride of Tipperary festival will run from June 30th to July 16th. Many events will take place during the two weeks including the annual fashion show with Celia Holman Lee that takes place in Aherlow house on Tuesday July 5. The glamorous Gala Dinner will also be held in Aherlow house on Thursday, July 12 and other events include a table quiz and a fun penalty shootout. The finale and crowning of the 2016 Pride of Tipperary takes place on Saturday July 16, after the final of the National Churn Racing competition as part of the It’s a Long Way to Tipperary festival.
The Pride of Tipperary festival is one of Ireland's longest running festivals and celebrates its 52nd year in 2016. The festival has a strong fundraising legacy and in 2015 a cheque for €5,000 was presented to Circle of Friends Cancer Support Centre in Tipperary town. Circle of Friends will again be the 2016 beneficiary.
The 2015 Pride Sarah Dillon, who was sponsored by Kiely's Lounge & Bar Tipperary, did a fantastic job fundraising and hosting events for local charities during her reign including the South Tipp Hospice and The Roisin Price fund. Sarah held a highly successful Winter Ball in Aherlow House hotel raising nearly €5,000 for Pieta House and has truly lived up to everything the Pride of Tipperary represents.
The 2016 Pride of Tipperary launch takes place on Thursday June 30 at the Tipperary Racecourse. “This is always a lovely evening for our contestants and it will also be their first greeting with the public. It is an evening of great excitement but also a relaxed atmosphere as the girls get to know one another,” added Chairperson Brian English.
This year’s main prize of €1000 is kindly sponsored by Tipperary Racecourse Supporters club and the other main sponsors are, Aherlow House hotel, Tipperary Co-op and the Canon Hayes Sports centre.
If you or anyone you know would like to enter as a Pride contestant this year please get in contact with any member of the Pride committee or through the Facebook page, Pride of Tipperary.
