On Friday, September 16th arts organisations, arts and cultural centres, museums and libraries and artists throughout the country encourage everyone to make a date with culture.

Tipperary's 'Culture Night' is part of a national initiative to highlight the wealth of cultural activity available throughout the country and is led by the Department of Arts, Heritage, Regional, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs in partnership with Tipperary County Council and local cultural facilities. With twenty-six venues participating across Tipperary there is something for everyone.
Events will take place in Ballina, Cahir, Carrick on Suir, Cashel, Clonmel, Cloughjordan, Mullinahone, Nenagh, Roscrea, Thurles and Tipperary Town. So, check out the programme to see what is happening near you on culturenight.ie or tipperarycoco.ie/arts/culture-night-2016. 'Culture Night' programmes are also available in all Tipperary Libraries and cultural venues.
Most 'Culture Night' activities are planned so that they are accessible to a family audience and all events are free. So, do take the opportunity to take part in this annual celebration of our rich culture here in Tipperary on Friday, September 16th.
The following are just some of the events taking place in Tipperary this 'Culture Night'.
The Source Arts Centre and Library, Thurles will celebrate its tenth birthday on 'Culture Night'. The night will commence with the launch of Sheenagh Geoghegan’s exhibition, entitled ' STOMA'. Tipperary-born Diarmuid Sutton will launch his debut album “It Is What It Is”.
Cashel Library and Plaza have a full day of activities planned for 'Culture Night' in association with the Cashel Arts Festival Committee. Illustrator Fintan Taite will facilitate workshops followed by a reading from her recent novel 'Miss Emily' by Nuala O’Connor.
Brú Ború Cultural Centre in Cashel will host a seisiún of craic agus ceol throughout the night in which Tipperary 'Culture Night' ambassador 2016 Nora Butler will participate in with musicians and singers from the region.
Carrick-on-Suir also has a full programme of events taking place throughout the town at The Brewery Lane Theatre Arts Centre; The Tudor Artisan Hub and Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre including 'An Evening of Poetry & Song', nature documentaries, a '6 Word Story Challenge' and a photographic exhibition.
In Tipperary Town The Tipperary Excel will present a traditional music evening and a screening of the Film 'Atlantic' while Youth Work Ireland, Tipperary will host an event to showcase talented young bands and singer-songwriters at The Times Hotel.
'Culture Night' events in Clonmel, Cahir and Mullinahone include music, exhibitions and workshops.
