The search for Ireland’s greatest cover version has been narrowed down from hundreds of entries as judges have selected their Top Five for the National Final, set to take place in Whelan’s on Wednesday March 14.

The Le Crunch Apple of My Eye song contest asked Ireland’s musicians to record and enter their most cherished cover version.

The top prize of €1500 and a slot at Indiependence Music & Arts Festival will be decided following a live performance by the five finalists at Whelan’s Dublin on March 14.

The following 5 artists will contest the final:

1.       The Rush – ‘Cocoon’ by Milky Chance (Co Kildare)

2.        Perfect Friction - 'All I Want' (as Gaelige) by Kodaline (Co Wicklow)

3.        Liam Geddes – ‘Stargazing’ by Kygo ft. Justin Jesso (Co Dublin)

4.        Sparkle – ‘You’ve Got The Love’ by Florence & the Machine (Co Cork)

5.        Dan Elliott – ‘Nothing Compares To You’ by Prince (Co Cork)

“We’ve been delighted with the huge response that the Apple of My Eye song contest has received across Ireland,” said Sandrine Gaborieau, Marketing Director of Le Crunch from France. “Once again, the competition seems to have caught people’s imagination and to be involved with such great young talent from all over Ireland has been an immense pleasure for Le Crunch.

“We’d like to thank everyone who took the time to send us their entries over the last few weeks and would also like to wish our five finalists the best of luck for next week’s final.”

The five finalists will perform two tracks live at the final in front of judges Jess Kavanagh from BARQ, songwriter Jack O’Rourke and JOEshow presenter, Paddy McKenna.
