Tidy Towns

Tidy Towns

Ardfinnan tidy towns are in full swing at the moment and are grateful for all the help and praise we are getting off everyone. We would like to ask for your help keeping an eye on litter around each area. The fine weather is a big bonus this time of year and it is great to see everyone out painting and doing their gardens, keep up the great work. Once again if we can help anyone in any area or if you have any ideas please let us know.

Alfie Browne has retired this year from Ardfinnan Cemetery Caretaker after 20 years of service. The commitment and dedication that Alfie had as caretaker was not only evident to our community but won him eight 1st prizes, six 2nd prizes and one 3rd prize in the South Tipperary County Council awards. On behalf of the community we would like to say a huge thank you for the work he has done and wish Alfie and Ann the very best for the future. Alfie should be very proud of this life achievement and is yet another unsung hero of the village.

Our under 10s played challenge matches on Saturday 31st March, We had two teams playing on Saturday and both put in excellent performances. Well done to all who took part.

Our under 12B team were beaten by Clonmel Commercials in the Premier Games on Friday night last. Both teams played some good football on the night and our team are improving all the time and were unlucky not to come out on top in what proved to be a really exciting game.

Our under 14s will play Grangemockler on Monday night next at 6.30 in Ardfinnan.

Our Under 16s went down to a strong commercials team on Thursday night last.

Our Minors drew with Ballingarry on a score line of 2-05 each on Sunday evening last.

The Seniors had a good win over Ballyloody in a Challenge game on Sunday night. The Championship is fast approaching with the likely hood that we will be playing in two or three weeks time.

The Club would like to extend its deepest sympathies to the Family and Friends of Jim Ahearne of Kilmolash, Clonmel. Jimmy Played Senior football for the Club in the 1940s and was a fine player who was very proud of his time wearing the maroon and white. Jimmy’s coffin was draped in the club colours and we saluted him with a guard of honour. May he rest in peace.
