Killurney Sports and Social Club will hold a children’s table quiz this Friday night at 8pm.

Organisers hope to see a large attendance from all the national schools in the catchment area and they can promise all who take part many lovely edible spot prizes.

The club will hold the draw for the delicious Easter Hampers after this quiz. Tickets are still available for just €2 from any committee member.

Numbers are ever increasing for the Social Club’s walks which take place on Wednesdays at 7pm.

The club was saddened to hear of the death of Ellen Hitchens who always enjoyed our Senior Citizens Party. Condolences are extended to her family and friends.

The GAA club wish Donie Cronin, Jim Healy, John Roche and John Tobin every success as they go forward to represent the club in the Tipperary All County Quiz, following their victory at Robinson’s last Friday night.

A reminder to all that membership is now due and must be paid by March 31, which is the final day for registration.

Please note that players will not be allowed to represent the club if they are not paid up. This has to be strictly enforced for insurance purposes. The club would appreciate your co-operation in this.

The club offers its sincere condolences to the Walsh Family, Mountain View, Carrick on Suir and to the Carrrick Swan GAA Club on the untimely and tragic death of Craig Walsh, last weekend.

Unfortunately, the KPLAN table quiz has to be postponed from next Saturday evening until Saturday, April 21.

We apologise for any inconvenience incurred and look forward to a large turnout on the new date selected. Everyone is invited to come along and take part.

Match three winners last week were Eileen McGrath and Ann Davin Murphy.

This week’s lucky dip voucher can be claimed for lunch at Nagle’s Bar and the lucky winner was Liam Ryan.

Our weekly walks have become established and we would like to extend an invitation to any neighbour who would like to step out in good company and join either the ‘long walk’ or take the shorter easier closer to home option.

Routes vary and there is no need to be a member as all are most welcome.

Meet on Tuesdays, at Robinson’s tree, on dry days. Depart prompt at 11am.

The Active Retirement Association is for anyone of any age who is not in employment (so you do not have to be over 60 years to be included).

Each local ARA has its own character and programme, developed to suit its own members. Here, in Kilsheelan, we have a convivial meeting every fortnight on Wednesdays in the KPLAN Community Centre from 2pm to 4pm.

There is an exercise session, a topic of interest or guest speaker, a computer instructor working with members in an adjoining room, a slap up afternoon tea followed by perhaps some or all of a quiz, cards, music and entertainment, outdoor activities in fine weather and planning for excursions of all kinds. Nothing is compulsory.

No one need move off their chair or even speak if they do not wish to but they will not be able to refrain from laughter, that is guaranteed.

Yearly registration costs just €25 which covers personal insurance and subsidises special occasions. Looking forward to meeting you.

The community expresses its sympathy to the relatives and friends of Ellen Hitchens

Cloughcarrigeen who died recently.
