Emly Bord Na Nog

VHI Cul Camp

Emly Bord Na nOg have just hosted their 2nd Cul Camp which was thoroughly enjoyed by all of the 75 children who attended. We would like to thank Dinny Maher, Co-Ordinator of the Camp and for the following Coaches who came: John O’Keeffe, Tom Ryan, Seanie O’Neill, Michael Doyle, Alan Kennedy, Nicky Gilmore and Liam Dwane. All these Coaches gave great advice to the children and did some wonderful skills and games. A great surprise was in store for the children on the Wednesday when Padraig Maher came to the Camp along with Barry O’Brien, County Board Chairman and Sean Landers from Oola who is on the Munster Council and they brought along the Munster Cup recently won by Tipperary. The week got even better when on the last day of the Camp Seamus Callanan dropped in and again like Padraig Maher spent a lot of time talking to the children, showing them some skills and signing jerseys, hurleys, helmets and standing for photographs. Each child received their Cul Camp medal at the end. Thanks to Jonas & Betty Callanan for their continuous sponsorship each year and Hartigan’s Shop for sponsoring water for the week and their special offers at their deli counter during the Camp. The Club would sincerely like to thank Johnny Alymer, Red Cross Officer, who attended the Camp every day and took care of any injury problems. Likewise we would like to thank Joe McEniry, Kay Joyce, Mary Condon, Jude McCarthy and Hannah Murphy. Year after year these Ladies cater at the Camp and make sure everything runs smoothly and the Club appreciate all their hard work. The Club thank Mary McGrath, Elaine Corby, Carol O’ Brien and Caroline Martin who provided scones and cakes every morning and these touches make a lot of difference. Well done to our three Officers, Mike McGrath, Paul Murphy and Brendan O’ Heney who organised the Camp and we all look forward to another great Camp in a year’s time.
