Lattin Cullen



The local community was greatly shocked and saddened by the sudden and unexpected death last week of Linda O’Brien, Ballinulty. The thoughts and prayers of everyone in the parish are with her heartbroken parents, Johnny and Judy, her brothers Pat, Eamonn and John Joe, her relatives and many friends.


The annual general meeting of Lattin Tennis Club will take in the clubhouse at 8.15 pm in this Saturday night.


Cullen National School are holding an open day on March 8, from 4pm to 5 pm. All are welcome.


The junior A team fixture was switched from Cullen to Cashel last Sunday, where the team kept up their push for Division Two honours with a 2 – 0 victory over Cashel B. The goals were scored by Leonard Leahy and Barry O’Dwyer, who was also unlucky not to be credited with a second from a brilliant free kick. Next Sunday the team are away from home again, with Rosegreen as their opponents. All the team’s remaining fixtures are then at home.

Also in action next Sunday will be the U.12s who entertain Herbertstown in the Cup at 4pm. The previous day, the U.10s will play Murroe A in the second round of the Cup at3 pm in Cullen and the U.13s will travel to Croom for a Premier League game at 11am.


The Parents’ Association of Cappawhite N.S. are holding a scrap metal collection on Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10. All scrap metal can be dropped to Grisewood’s farmyard, Cappawhite from 2 p.m to 6 p.m on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Large metal items can be collected. We hosted the U10 and U12 draughts county finals last Sunday. Our U12 team had a convincing win over Silvermines and will represent Tipperary in the Munster finals. Our U10 team are Helena Clifford, Diarmuid Looby, TJ Moloney, Hanna Kate Heffernan, Jack O’ Dwyer and Leah Carew. Our U12 team are Mary O’ Heney, Shane Carew, Laoise Looby, Niall Carew, Aideen Carew, Amy Kuss and Sarah Marnane. The local area art and model making local medals were presentned last Sunday.
