We held our AGM last week and we are looking forward to the year ahead. We would like to thank all involved in the hedge cutting that took place around the village. We also got great praise on the work carried out the last few Saturdays by some of our committee and residents along the New Line road and would like to thank those who helped out. Ardfinnan Tidy Towns is a small committee covering a large area and aim to do our best for each area. Our aim this year is to notify each area in advance when we will doing some work in their area and ask the residents to give a hand for an hour or two if they have time mostly on Saturdays between 1am and 1pm. If any residents have ideas for their area please feel free to pass them on to any member on our committee. Our next meeting is this Thursday, March 1, at 7.30pm in the local community centre.

It’s all gooing to be very eggciting and a great family day out. More details next week so watch this space.

Adult training for Senior and Junior players is on Wednesday nights at 8pm in the Green. We play County league next Sunday against Moyle Rovers.

Under 21 Football

Our Under 21s played Moyle Rovers in the Championship last Sunday at 3pm in the Sportsfield Clonmel. This proved to be a very entertaining game throughout. Our opponents to their credit never gave up but we ran out convincing winners in the end, the final score being 1-16 to 0-05.

We play Cahir next Saturday at 3 p.m. in Ballylooby in the final game of the group stage, all support greatly appreciated. Juvenile

Our under 12s played in a Blitz organized by Clonmel óg in Ned Hall Park on Saturday, February 18. We had three matches in total playing Clonmels óg A , Clonmel óg B and Kilsheelan on what was a very cold and blustery day. We played some excellent football throughout winning all three games.

The same day our U14s were out in the Peil ng Nóg , playing Clerihan in the quarter finals. We proved to be stronger on the day and ran out comfortable winners. The following day, Clonmel Commercials were our opposition in the semi finals but this time the Clonmel boys proved to be the stronger team, however our boys battled till the end and hopefully will continue to improve for the championship ahead.
