New Inn

A very successful joint pub quiz was held last Saturday night, February 25, in all three pubs, Barrons, Ollies and The Rovers Inn to raise funds for the Tidy Towns committee. The quiz ran simultaneously in all three pubs and there was a fantastic turn out of over 30 tables on the night. The committee would like to thank the three quiz masters for their fine efforts, Karl McHugh, Lisa O’Connor and Jimmy O’ Farrell also thank all the sponsors of the spot and raffle prizes who are too numerous to mention and their exceptional generosity is very much appreciated. The committee also appreciates the work of many people on the night, the people who checked the answers, collected the answers and distributed the answer sheets etc, Tom Fahey for setting the questions. The great work of the three publicans made this a most enjoyable night for everyone and contributed greatly to the fundraising effort and also the work of the committee members who work tirelessly behind the scenes. The team of Alice Walsh, Patricia Wilson, Mary Morrissey and Christine Cummins won the day in Barrons and in Ollies there was a nail biting tie breaker for first place between Eileen Bell, Vincent O’Connor, Bridget Ryan, Roseanne Carew’s team and Marie Walsh, Sean and Tracey Looby and Damien Halley’s team, the latter team emerging victorious. The overall winners were the team from The Rovers Inn comprised of Tommy & Carmel Byrne, Noel Barrett and Marie Barrett. Well done to everyone and it was heartening in these recessionary times to see such a fine crowd of parishioners enjoying themselves and supporting this very worthwhile cause.
