Scoil Mhuire Gan Smal Have you ever fancied sharing an evening with Nat “King” Cole, Judy Garland or Frank Sinatra? “The Great American Songbook” variety concert, presented by the award winning Tipperary Musical Society, focuses on the most influential American songs of the 20th century and guarantees a great nights entertainment of soulful swing! The fundraising concert is being held at 8pm on Saturday, November 2, in the New Inn Community Hall. Camogie
Congratulations to our under 12 B Camoige team who secured their place in the County final after beating Moycarkey in the semi final. They will play their final against Kickhams in the Ragg on Saturday, November 2 (time yet to be decided). We wish them the best of luck and would really appreciate your support !
New Inn Rosegreen Basketball Club The club played a challenge match against Thurles Knights last Friday, October 25, in Thurles. After a very competitive game we lost 9 – 14. Thanks to the parents who came along to support and well done to all players: Mary Louise O’Rourke, Rebecca Ryan, Conor Hennessy, Tom Downey, Senan McMahon, Davina Ryan, Danny Doherty, Elsie O’Neill, Sarah Maher, Emma Daly. Training continues each Tuesday at Rockwell College Sports Hall: 6 – 9 years from 7pm to 8pm, 10 – 13 years from 8pm to 9pm. New Inn Girls School Parents Association Held their A.G.M. recently. A great turnout was had with a very successful meeting. New Chairperson Jayne McConnon, Secretary Julie Hennessey and Treasurer Catherine O’Brien. A sincere thanks to our outgoing chairperson Annette Carroll who stepped down after three years of very dedicated work.

Juvenile Club
Well done to our U8s who won two out of their three matches at a blitz in Thurles on Saturday, October 18. Their opponents were Moycakey, Boherlahan and Ballylooby. Well done to all involved with this young team especially mentors Paul, Michael and Seanie. Thanks to all the parents who come and support this young team and special thanks to parent Barry Fitzpatrick for his hard work.

South Junior A Football Final: The junior A footballers played the South final against Ballingarry in Clonmel Sportsfield on Monday, October 28. Newcastle played with the benefit of the breeze in the first half. However, Ballingarry started the better and lead by 5 points early on. Newcastle responded with a goal by Brian Sweeney and 5 points. Approaching half time, Ballingarry scored a fortuitous goal that changed the momentum of the match. The half time score was Newcastle 1-5, Ballingarry 2-5. Despite their best efforts, and having to play into the wind, Newcastle was unable to close the gap. In the end Ballingarry were victorious by 2 points on a score line of 2-10 to 1-11. Well done to all the players and the management team of Michael Guiry, Shirley Ryan, Anthony O’Dwyer and Jason Ahearne for their efforts during the year. Committee meeting: The next committee meeting will be held in the club rooms on Wednesday, November 6, at 8pm.
Christmas Cooking Demonstration A cooking demonstration, hosted by Eileen Condon, will be held in Newcastle Community Hall on November 12. There will be a bake sale and raffle at 7.30pm and Cooking Demonstration begins at 8pm, tea and coffee will be available also. Tickets €8 each or two for €15, available locally. Proceeds to Newcastle Parents Council Association.
Late Mrs M Maher
We extend sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Mrs Maudy Maher nee (Daltonballyhane, Cappoquin, and late of Monatouke, Newcastle) whose burial took place in the old cemetery Newcastle on Monday, October 21. R.I.P.

The novena for the holy souls will begin with the 11am mass on Sunday, November 17. Novena mass will be offered at 7.30pm each evening from Monday 18th through to Friday 22, on Saturday 23rd at the 6.30pm vigil mass, on Sunday 24th 11am mass and on Monday 25th at 7.30pm.

A social and medal presentation ceremony will take place in Cahir House Hotel on Friday, December 6, at 8.30pm. Tickets €25 include a three course meal and music. South and County winning U21 team getting their medals on the night. Sympathy
It was with sadness and regret that news of the passing of Ned Butler, Beary’s Cross, Ballinamult, was received in the village last week. Sincere sympathy to his wife Teresa, sons Gerard, Eamonn, Conor, daughters Maeve and Orla, brother Piery, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and many friends. Ned was very well known and liked in the parish and beyond and he will be sadly missed by many. Funeral Mass was held in St.Mary’s Church, Touraneena, last Thursday with burial in the adjoining cemetery last Friday. May he rest in peace.
Sliabh gCua’s Got Talent
On November 28 the very first Sliabh gCua’s got talent competition will be held in the community centre Touraneena. Anybody that feels they have a particular talent of any type is invited to enter. All proceeds from the night will go towards the erection of a store room for Kirwan Park. The competition is being run by the Sliabh gCua/St.Mary’s development committee.
