NEW INN TENNIS CLUB
Many of our players took part in Larkspur Open Week. Congratulations to Rupert Butler and John Shanahan who were Winners in Men’s Doubles Grade 5. Well done also to Eileen Hally and Laura Heffernan who were runners up in the Ladies Doubles Grade 5 and to Sean Looby and Marie Walsh who were also runners up the Mixed Doubles Grade 6. Well done to all the other pairs who participated in this event which was a great success. A huge thanks to all who supported our members during the week, it was much appreciated. The courts were in great use during the week and many players and supporters from other clubs have commented on the great condition of the courts. Club nights will resume this week. We hope to organise a home league in the coming weeks so keep an eye out for that.
COFFEE MORNING - in aid of TRIP TO CALCUTTA
There is to be a coffee morning on Saturday, September 3, from 11am to 1pm in Barron’s Pub, New Inn. This is in aid of the Hope foundation efforts in Calcutta. Ciaran Barron is hoping to make this trip. Also Kevin O’Donnell tutoring gardening will give a talk and display on vegetable gardens, hedging etc. Admission is free but donations are welcome. Your support would be very much appreciated.
(September 2) – Masses – Knockgraffon 9.30am, New Inn 7.30pm (Convent). Holy Communion will be brought to the sick and housebound. Please note no morning mass on the first Saturday (September 3).
COACH TO CROAGH PATRICK

ROCKWELL ROVERS GAA CLUB
Hard luck to our U16 hurlers who lost out to Eire Og/Annarcarhy last Monday night August 22. Final score was 5-12 to 2-10.
Well done to the U14 A hurlers who beat Cashel last Thursday, August 25 in Golden. Final score 3-9 to 2-4. It was a tough physical game so well done to all the players. At half time the score was 1-5 to 1-1 in favour of Rockwell Rovers so all to play for. played a very good challenge match in hurling against Ballylooby in Ballylooby last Thursday August 25. It was a worthwhile exercise as the team improved as the match went on. Christopher Lonergan scored a great goal and John Marnane had a terrific game in the backs. Overall everyone played well. JUNIOR HURLING A CHAMPIONSHIP
Rockwell Rovers lost by 2 pts to Lattin Cullen last Saturday afternoon in Golden. This was a game full of drama with great excitement and a thrilling finish as Lattin-Cullen held out to defeat Rockwell Rovers by two points on a scoreline of 1-15 to 3-7 in the Gleeson Concrete junior hurling A championship.
