Seasons Greetings

We wish all our members and supporters a very happy and peaceful 2013. We also remember in our prayers those loved ones who have passed on and we offer our condolences to all from our community who were bereaved during 2012.

The death occurred in Dublin, on December 15, of Ned Stapleton, formerly of Clonkelly, Dundrum.

Ned was a proud Kickham man in his youth and wore the Black and Amber with pride. He was a fine player, but surely his most thrilling match with the Kickhams was the great and completely unexpected victory over the reigning County Champions Eire Og Annacarty Donohill in the West Senior hurling league Final of 1944 when he lined out as goalkeeper and helped his team beat a noted and very strong opposition on the score 3-5 to 1-4. Alas, with Ned’s passing goes the final link with that heroic Kickham team.

We extend our deepest sympathies to Ned’s brothers Dan and Tom, their wives Ann and

Biddy, relative’s neighbours and friends, on their

sad loss. As a mark of respect

to Ned and the Stapleton family, Ned’s coffin

was draped with the flag of his beloved Kickhams and the club provided a guard of honour as

his remains arrived at the Church of

The Assumption, Knockavilla. Club activities were also deferred as a mark of

respect. Internment took place in Ballintemple Cemetery.
