Mitchelstown Junior A footballers the defending Div 1 FL kingpins are out of the knockout stages of the current league. On Sunday last Kilshannig with two injury time points emerged winners by 0-10 to 0- 9. From the start the ‘Town side were in control and by half time were 1-15 to 0-1 ahead having played with the wind. The second half saw the game far closer with both sides scoring 5 points each. Mitchelstown ran out easy victors by 1-20 to 0-6. THE LATE DENIS MURPHY
The death occurred after a long illness on Monday May 14 at Cork University Hospital of Denis Murphy, 4 Liam Lynch Park, Mitchelstown. The late Denis was very well known in the local area being employed by Eircom up to his illness. There was a large attendance at the removal on Sunday from O’Brien’s
Funeral Home to the Parish Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Monday. Followed by cremation at the Island Crematorium. To his wife
Martina, sons Kevin, Dylan, daughter Sarah, brothers Billy, Tony, sister Peggy (O’Connell) brothers in law, sisters in law, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
THE LATE MARGARET DONOVAN The death occurred on May 14 at 32 Brookdale, Mill Road, Midleton of Margaret Donovan (Nee Boland) formerly of Skeheen, Mitchelstown. The late Margaret was predeceased by her husband John. There was a large attendance at the removal on Tuesday evening from O’Brien’s Funeral Home Mitchelstown to the Parish Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Wednesday. Interment took place to Brigown Old Cemetery. To her son John, daughter Ann, grandchild Jodie, brothers Paddy, Seanie, sister Kathleen, brother in law Michael sisters in law Ann and Kay, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.

CBS HURLERS BEATEN
Mitchelstown CBS Under 14 and a half hurlers lost out to Colaiste Spiorad Naomh in the Cork Colleges hurling semi final at CIT Grounds on Tuesday last.
From the start the better equipped City side dominated and they led 6-7 to 1-1 at half time. CBS did reasonably well in the second half but the gap was too wide. The final score was 9 -9 to 1-5.
