A very successful fundraiser was held last Saturday night in the community centre, Touraneena in aid of St. Mary’s National School, Touraneena.

Over 170 people attended the ‘Ball in the Hall’. A big thank you to everyone who attended.

Thanks also to the hostesses for co-ordinating their tables and the beautiful desserts they provided and to Eileen Condon who provided a hot meal.

Over E3,000 was raised on the night and this money will go towards the costs of the new windows and insulation for the National school.

At Sliabh gCua ladies club we have often discussed how much we would like to travel to one of the famous continental Christmas fairs but then we thought about all the wonderful local artisans and how much better it would be to support our area.

Our first job was to source a variety of different crafts and skills and we were amazed by all the wonderful talent that is available in West Waterford. At the Christmas fair we will have arts, crafts, jewellery, toys, baking, chutneys/relishes, Christmas wreaths/trees, Christmas cards and lots lots more.

As Christmas is really a special time about children we asked our local national school to become involved and we are delighted that the school choir will perform carol singing on the night which will greatly add to the festive atmosphere.

One of the school children will be exhibiting her beautiful homemade cards, which will also be for sale.

As like most schools in the present time, our local school is fund raising and we are charging a small entrance fee for adults in to the fair which will include tea/mince pies and raffle tickets for a bumper hamper.

The profits from the fair will be donated to the school fund.

The Christmas fair takes place on Tuesday, December 4, from 7pm to 9.30pm in the Touraneena Community Centre.

Touraneena is located approximately 11 miles from Dungarvan and is well sign-posted on the Dungarvan to Clonmel road.

We hope you take this opportunity to do some special Christmas shopping and join us for what promises to be a wonderful evening.
