Burncourt win by two goals
Ballyneale FC got its campaign in the third division of the Tipperary Southern & District League underway with a challenging away tie to established team, Burncourt FC.
This was always going to be a tough test so early in the season, and Ballyneale FC lost 3-1.
The under strength Ballyneale team went behind early in the game, but reacted well and the score was 1-1 at half time. Burncourt clinched a second goal midway through the second half, and added a third in the dying minutes.
Ballyneale gave a spirited display against the odds and Darren McCarthy and Robbie O’Brien were the team’s best players. The team next play Cashel Town in Ballydine on Sunday.
