Strand Theatre quiz and bingo
A table quiz in aid of the Strand Theatre Building Fund takes place in the Strand Theatre this Friday, April 1 at 9pm.
Teams of four cost €20 and there will be lots of prizes as well as some fun and games.
Carrick-on-Suir Musical Society will also show the DVD of its recent production of Godspell on the night starting at 7.30pm.
The Musical Society will also host a bingo night on Good Friday in the Strand Theatre.
The main prize will €1,000 and there will also be plenty of other prizes and an Easter draw. Main prize for the draw is €2,000, second prize is €1,000 and third prize is €500.
Tickets are available from Musical Society members and at the Strand Theatre.

€900,000 funding for road project
Carrick-on-Suir is to benefit from a E900,000 road resurfacing project that is to be carried out on two sections of the N24 road passing through the town this year.
The National Roads Authority has granted funding to South Tipperary Co. Council to do the resurfacing on a section of the N24 from the old Rock Rovers Grounds at Deerpark towards the town and from Carrick-on-Suir Garda Barracks to the Railway Bridge.

The Council came under fire for carrying out road resurfacing works on the N24 last December during the height of the pre-Christmas shopping season. However, the local authority only received funding for the project late in the year and had to complete the works by the end of 2010 in order to draw down the money.
Motorists warned to stop
parking outside fire station
Carrick-on-Suir Town Council has declared its traffic wardens are operating a “zero tolerance” policy towards motorists, who park in front of the town’s fire station making it difficult for fire tenders to exit.
Town Clerk Michael O’Brien said the Council had received complaints from the Fire Service about people parking outside Carrick-on-Suir Fire Station.
“It’s causing a bit of a problem and we will be operating a zero tolerance policy there,” he warned.

The agm of Faugheen ICA. takes place at the April meeting of the Guild this Friday, April 1 at 8pm.
Following the Guild’s recent beaded jewellery classes, attention has been focused on setting out ideas for the upcoming Federation Day competition in May.
Work on a number of projects is well underway and hopefully members will have many more creative and constructive suggestions for the meeting on Friday.
A pub quiz to raise funds for the upkeep of Mothel Well and Abbey Graveyard takes place in Mansfield’s Pub, Mothel this Friday, April 1.
Entry is €30 per team of four and there will be plenty of spot prizes.
A comprehensive and useful step-by-step guide to filling in the Census form is now available from the Citizens Information Office at the Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre every Tuesday from 11am to 1pm.
Census forms are to be filled out on Sunday, April 10.
