A very successful AGM took place on Tuesday, March 6. It began with a report on our previous year’s events, the 2011 Field evening, Santa’s Christmas Party and various maintenance endeavours throughout the year, from oil tanks to window boxes.

Officers for the coming year are: Chairperson: Anne Casey, Vice-chairperson: Yvonne Condon, Secretary: Anne Fitzgerald, Assistant Secretary: Eva Hartigan, Treasurer: Sheila Cronin. All attendees were welcomed as committee members and it was heartening to have both new and seasoned members, young and old.

A coffee morning will be held in Ardfinnan community centre on Friday, March 23, from 9.30am til 12 noon. All proceeds go to the Irish Cancer Society. Your support would be appreciated.

Frank Hughes and his family would like to sincerely thank the Gardai, Community alert (under the leadership of Niall O’Halloran) and his neighbours and friends in Grange for all their support in the aftermath of his traumatic ordeal when two men assaulted him and robbed cash from the shop last Wednesday afternoon. He expressed his gratitude for the unity and kindness shown by the whole of the village. In response, all of his friends, neighbours and community council comrades are shocked by this terrible violation of our quiet and unassuming village. We hope that this terrible event will not discourage the Hughes family in their provision of a friendly and convenient service and an important social meeting place for so many. We wish them every good will for the future.

Let everyone know what your club or group is up to! What are your plans for the year? Help your community to support you! Contributions for Grange community notes can be placed in the notices box in Frank Hughes shop, Grange Village or please contact Eva Hartigan on 086-3541192/ Please note that all notices must be received by Sunday 6pm for inclusion in that weeks newspaper.

Grange Tidy Villages will hold a meeting on Wednesday, March 14, in Grange School at 7.30pm. Update will be given on plans for the village for the 2012 competition.
