A Church Gate Collection is organised for the week of May 11/12, to raise money to buy defibrillators. A letter will be distributed to households in the area. Next meeting Monday, May 13, 9pm in Oola Community Hall. Anybody interested in joining the group and becoming trained in how to perform C.P.R. and be trained on how to use the defibrillator, come along to the meeting.


New members are currently being recruited for Oola youth club, Juniors 8- 12yrs (Saturday 6pm) and Teen for Senior club (Friday night) We urgently need to train up new leaders. Contact Dermot 06251166 or any of the leaders.


Intermediate Football Championship - The Intermediate’s 2013 championship off to a good start last Saturday evening with a low-scoring draw against Na Piarsaigh in Caherelly. Na Piarsaigh were quickest out of the blocks with two early points, with Johnny Clifford replying with a free. Na Piarsaigh reclaimed their two point lead after 10 minutes followed by a period of Oola ascendancy with points from John Clifford, Daniel Quirke and a David Donovan 45 giving Oola a one point half-time lead. Further points from David Donovan John Clifford and Keith Bourke had Oola two points ahead going into the last ten minutes before a late Na Piarsaigh surge levelled the scores in the closing minutes at six points apiece.

U16 Football - The boys U16 footballers were in action against our near neighbours Pallasgreen in Oola last Monday. Oola started the game well and at half time had a 2 point lead, but Pallasgreen took control of the early stages of the second half & went into a four point lead. But it was Oola who finished stronger to win the game by the slightest of margins. Next up is the final match of the championship before the break for the Junior cert against Murroe Boher in Murroe Monday, May 13.

U12s Oola (Red) 5-8. V Kilmallock 6-4 - The “Reds” were in action away to Kilmallock last Thursday. Despite being down with a few minutes remaining the boys kept plugging away to come out on the right side of a one point victory.

U12s Oola (White) 1-11 v Kilteely 1-11 - The “Whites” were also away last Thursday as they travelled to face Kilteely in their first match of the league. In an overall good game a draw was the fairest result.Training for both squads continues.

Ladies football - The U14 girls had a tough match last Wednesday against St.Bridgets. Oola lost by 4points and now qualify for the B county semi final.

U12 girls travelled down to Banouge to play Shamrock Gaels last Friday. At half time it was 1-1. Oola then had the wind in the second half and were lucky on the night to get another victory 3-8 - 1-2.
