Recently Deceased

This week we mourn the death of Paddy McGrath of Barrack Street and John Joe Quirke of Templenahurney. In their own unique way both of these men made a marvellous contribution to gaelic games in Bansha and Kilmoyler over the past decades and we extend the sympathy of all club members to their relatives and friends. At both funerals the coffins were draped with the club colours while club members formed a guard of honour at both removals. Solas na bhFlaitheas ar a n-Anamacha.

Our minor hurlers had to battle hard on Wednesday night to hold out for a draw in round three of the West championship. This result leaves us on three points with two games to be played later on. Unfortunately our under 21 hurlers had to give a walkover to Carrick Davins in the county championship on Sunday and now we must concentrate on defending our West title in this grade.

Under 12 Football

Our gallant under 12 brigade were defeated in the league semi-final on Sunday evening but their performances all Spring were a joy to behold and it bodes well for the future of our club when we see our underage teams competing so well at the highest levels.

Ladies Football The girls have been busy the last couple of weeks with the Championship in full swing. The U16 girls have 3 wins out of 3 now and are topping their group. They had a very tough game against Piltown who were a very strong team but football skill left them down. The Galtee girls had just to much skill for them and played smart football . It was not all one-way traffic however and the Galtee girls left them back into it and left themselves under pressure with 10 minutes to go. But with some cool heads on the field the girls ran out worthy winners on score line of 5 - 9 to 4 - 6. We also played Emly during the week and we won this game by 6 - 16 to 1 - 1. The girls have one more game to play in the Group against Slievenamon - an away fixture. Well done girls. Team: Gallina Kennedy , Lauren McGuire, Nicole O’Dwyer, Maria Magner, Jane Moylan, Katie Quirke, Aoife Nugent, Darrielle Ronan, Rachel Bourke (capt ), Roisin Finnane, Rachel Moloney, Laura Keeley, Laura Peters, Eimer Ryan, Hannah Dowdall, Katie Hayes, Kate White, Ruth Ronan. The U12 girls began their B championship last week with an away fixture to Brian Borus in Ballylooby . The girls were under pressure from the beginning as they were missing some players and we could only field 14 players . Brian Borus have a nice skilful team at the moment and our girls were under a lot of pressure through the whole game , but the Galtee girls never gave up trying . Brian Borus ran out winners and the Girls next game is at home to Cappawhite. We would also like to send out a speedy recovery to Saoirse Fanning and hope she gets better soon TEAM : Aine White, Caoimhe Ryan , Sarah O’Neill , Sarah McCarthy, Aisling McGuire, Zoe Morrissey, Leah O’Meara, Niamh Peters, Ciara Halpin, Clodagh Bourke, Amy Ryan, Emma Ryan, Grainne Hayes, Chloe Gubbins, Elle O’Sullivan, Ruth Ronan, Kate Phelan , Eimer Heffernan, Michelle Ryan, Nicola Tobin, Shannon Sweeney , Saoirse Fanning.
