A belated birthday greeting to Mary Carr, Kilbeg who celebrated her 90th birthday on Saturday 21 with a meal in the Venue, Dundrum, for her many friends, daughters Marie and Sheila were the perfect hosts. Mary was showered with gifts from her many grandchildren. The music started and Mary was first on the floor and at 90 could show many how to tango. Another little girl celebrated her 7th birthday on Sunday last, Shauna O’Dwyer, Cappagh, had a big party at her home for all her school friends. Many more years of health and happiness to all the birthday girls.

80th Birthday Congratulations were in order recently for Paddy Cleary, Kuraghpoor, Donaskeigh, who celebrated his 80th birthday with a bang in the “Galway Bay Hotel” Salthill, Paddy celebrated with his wife Madge, sons and daughters, brother and sisters. They took a well-earned rest in the luxury of the hotel for four days. May you enjoy many more years Paddy in good health, and just now a little bird told me you were married forty seven years on Saturday 21, congratulations to you both.

Sale – There will be a sale of all sorts of drapery plus lots of toys and bric-a-brac in Ozanam House for the next few weeks. It is well worth a visit and all the money raised will go to St. Vincent de-Paul.

Cappawhite 7 scores Seán Treacy’s 4 scores

The Cappawhite U11 footballers hosted Seán Treacy’s on Thursday evening last. The Cappa lads narrowly won the first of the two games by 3 scores. Well done to both teams for an entertaining game.

The U11 panel is: Anthony Barry, Oscar Allen, Eoin Murray, Gearóid Ryan, Jack Armshaw, Michael O’Brien, Patrick Barry, Ellen Gantley, Mikey Carmody, Conal Stokes-Rodriguez, Daniel Clancy and Gill Ann Quirke.

The U12 boys lost out narrowly to the Hollyford boys on Thursday evening last. It was a close encounter right to the final whistle.

U16 B Ladies Football Semi Final

Cappawhite 5-8 Fethard 1-12

Cappawhite and Fethard played out a thrilling U16 semi final in a showery Bansha on Sunday morning last. Both teams were evenly matched for the first half but the Cappa ladies led by 2-6 to 0-7 at the interval but 2 early goals early in the second half more or less sealed Fethard’s fate. Well done to both teams for a fine display of football.

Cappawhite now go on to play the winners of the other semi final between Brian Boru’s and Aherlow in early May.
