An estimated 380 bingo fans flocked to the Strand Theatre in Carrick-on-Suir on Good Friday in the hope that the holy day would also be their lucky day.
This was the third year in a row that Carrick Musical Society hosted the Good Friday fundraiser in aid of the Theatre’s Building Fund.
Musical Society PRO Padraig Sheehan said the bingo event has been a great success over the past three years and a fun thing for people to do in the town on Good Friday when the pubs are closed.
“We gave out a total of j2500 in prize money in the bingo and the first prize of j1000 was won by Bernie Kelly from Clonea Power,” he reported.
“The Society’s Easter Draw, which had a prize fund of j3500, also took place on the night. Finbarr Clancy of the High Kings drew the winning ticket.
“We wish to thank everyone who supported the bingo and draw, which raised about j6000 to reduce our Strand Theatre debt,” he added.
