Intermediate Football Championship Rd.2.

Oola 1-8, Na Piarsaigh 1-9.

A poor first half display by Oola and a second half of missed opportunities enabled Na Piarsaigh hold on for a one point victory. This match was played in ideal conditions having been moved to Kilmalock. Oola were first off the mark with a point after two minutes by Gavin Heuston but were not to score again for 20 minutes. Meanwhile Na Piarsaigh went on to take control and were level after four minutes as Don Holmes in the Oola goal made a great save to fist over the bar from Noel Shannnon. A minute later Maurice Horan set up Ronan McKenna for a well taken goal. After twenty minutes Na Piarsaigh led 1-4 to 0-1 with points from Aaron Costeolloe(2f) and Adrian Breen. Oola having made some positional changes lifted their game and responded with points from John Bourke and Denis Moloney in the 22nd and 23rd minutes to leave a four point margin between the teams. Points were exchanged again just before half time by Aaron Breen for Na Piarsaigh and Daniel Quirke for Oola to leave Na Piarsaigh ahead 1-5 to 0-4 at the end.
