An ad-hoc committee of our Parish Council have been working to organise area outdoor Masses to mark this special year. The first of these Masses will be on the green, near playground, in Ivowen Estate at 7.30pm on Wednesday, June 12, or held in the KPLAN if weather is bad. Others are planned in Kilcash on Thursday, June 20, and on the green in Railway Cottages Estate on Wednesday, June 26.

The present Parish Council has almost completed its three year period as stipulated in the Parish Council Constitution. New elections will be held in June. Voting papers will be sent shortly to each household.

We extend our sympathy to the O’Driscoll family on the untimely death of Eamon who, together with his brother Johnny, played with the club in his youth. God rest his soul.

Congratulations to the U14 “C” football team who won the South Title with a victory over St Patrick’s.

On Friday, June 14, Kilcash Community Centre hold an annual sponsored walk. Sponsorship cards available from any committee member or through Kilcash N.S. The five-mile trek through the local forest should cater for all tastes, the young and not so young, the casual stroller or the fitness enthusiast. The walk gets underway from 7.30pm and there will be refreshments on the route.

TENNIS: The Monday night team League is moving on nicely. The Tuesday club nights could do with some more players as it’s an excellent occasion for integrating and getting more game time, from 7.30pm. The South Tipp League, which caters for all standards of player, begins towards the end of June. Members wishing to be involved should contact the Tennis sub committee. Many club members are presently playing in Inter Firms or Open Weeks in neighbouring clubs and we wish all good games and best of luck.

JUNIOR COACHING: A further five weekly session of junior member’s coaching is now underway with Tony McCarthy and it is hoped to run a week long Tennis Summer Camp during school holidays. The club hosted a very enjoyable junior friendly match against Hillview last week and it is hoped to arrange a return shortly.

COMMITTEE MEETING: June 24, at 9pm.
