Last Wednesday evening we travelled to Fethard for a very enjoyable challenge. There were some great performances by both sides and we would like to thank Fethard for their hospitality.

On Saturday 21st we travelled to Clonmel Og for the Munster Ladies 12s Fun blitz. Our girls performed admirably with some great team performances. Our group consisted of Moycarkey, Ardfinnan, Clonmel Commercials & Abbeyside (Waterford) this was a great opportunity for our girls to play in various roles and all got great game time. Well done to Sadhbh, Chloe, Shannon, Leanne, Ruth, Eadaoin, Caoimhe, Niamh, Avril, Aoife, Orlaith, Dorothy, Emily and especially Ciara who misfortunately incurred a thumb break on the day, best wishes on a speedy recovery.

Junior Team

The junior team played their first championship match away to Latten Cullen in Latten on Sunday past. It was a game of two halves, with Latten having long periods of dominance in the first half which saw them lead by 2.5 to St. Patrick’s 8 points at half time. However the second half saw a change in fortunes, with St. Patrick’s dominant for extended periods throughout the 30 minutes. The ladies from St. Patrick’s tightened up the midfield and defence play and the fowards after a notable number of wides, started to get the points over the bar. The final score was St. Patrick’s 0.16 to Latten Cullen 2.6. This was truly a team effort, from Marie O’Connell in the goals whose tremendous save midway through the second half was the turning point in winning the game out, to the defence where Aileen Sugrue and Rachel McCormack where dominant throughout the whole game. One of the most pleasing aspects of the St.Patrick’s performance was that all 6 forwards and the 2 midfielders all notched up scores, between them scoring 16 -points.

Team line out: Marie O’Connell, Aileen Sugrue, Roisin Horan, Denise Noonan, Rebecca Hayden, Rachel McCormack, Anne Sugrue, Lynda Nevin (0.2) and Sarah Mockler (0.1), Una O’Brien (0.3), Shelley O’Dwyer (0.2), Deirdre O’Donovan (0.2), Siobhan Vaughan (0.3), Siobhan Dunne (0.2) and Niamh Dunne (0.1). Subs: Aileen Kelly, replaced Niamh Dunne, Helen Hogan, Niamh Morrissey and Aine O’Donovan.

The next championship game is against Cahir B and is scheduled for next weekend.
