The Under 18 team kicked off their season last Saturday with a 6 - 2 win over Waterford City, in what was a huge upset for the books.

Killenaule scored two goals within 10 minutes of the start, first score an excellent individual goal from birthday girl Edel O’Dwyer which was followed within minutes by a superb free scored by Jane Anna McKevitt after Robyn Schubert was brought down outside the box.

The backs of Nell Trehy, Roisin O’Regan, Cliona O’Connor and keeper Hannah Stapleton held out excellently for the rest of the half.

The second half started with a Waterford goal, but Killenaule replied instantly with goals from Jane Anne and Edel O’Dwyer, before Waterford scored their second goal.

Then Roisin O’Regan scored a goal from her own half when the keeper was outside the box organising her defence, this killed off the game.

Jane Anne McKevitt had the final say to secure her hat trick.

They play Dungarvan away on Saturday, October 13.

The girls’ soccer programme is up and running on Saturday evenings from 6pm to 7pm at Scoil Ruain.

All girls between the ages of six and 14 are welcome.

An extraordinary general meeting of Killenaule GAA Club takes place on Friday, October 5, in the Sports Complex at 9pm.
