His comment came following the announcement by Minister Quinn that a new group is being established by the National Council for Special Education and to be chaired by Eamon Stack.
The group, which will include parents and advocacy groups will begin its work immediately. It will provide an interim report to the Minister in September with advice on how to reform the way the
substantial additional educational resources for pupils with special educational needs are allocated in the school system.
“This news is greatly welcome. The current system of allocating resource teachers leaves a lot to be desired for children, teachers and parents. This is a good day for special education,” said Minister Kelly.
