Roscrea Community Hub, has been open now for just a few months but already it is making an impact on Roscrea’s communities.
We began by providing community and voluntary groups with free administration help, from Microsoft based secretarial support to Excel, Presentation and Microsoft Access (Database), many have found this a useful service allowing them to concentrate on the core of their activities. We then moved onto the creation of the Roscrea Event Calendar, a free locally based and run calendar for all in Roscrea and its environs, this has been so successful that Roscrea Online run by Mr. Brian King of Roscrea Credit Union have since taken down their calendar and now use ours with full administration rights granted. We have helped and facilitated the organisation of a number of events in Roscrea with the Monster Busking Day by Mr. Jack Keeshan a talented young local musician raising close to €1,000 for Pieta House Roscrea. Our latest endeavor is Suspended Coffee, the concept of paying for an extra coffee or tea when in a café or restaurant and leaving it for an elderly person to avail of, this helps those on low pensions to call in have a “cuppa” and a chat, keeping them part of our daily lives, this has been a huge success with three local Restaurant’s taking up the initiative, The Ugly Duckling Deli, The Cosy Café and Eile. We intend to keep up these innovative projects and look forward to meeting new groups and communities who would like to avail of our services, this is all through the facilitation of Roscrea Men’s Shed, who themselves are engaged in a number of successful community inclusion projects. The Hub is open Tuesdays and Thursdays for now but can be contacted at any time via email or phone, the Roscrea event Calendar is open to all find us on Facebook, or email details to firstname.lastname@example.org phone Mike on 0879841033.
