Tipperary has taken the top spot amongst inland counties as part of the recently released Ireland Liveability Index.

The index, which was updated this week, ranked counties in the Republic of Ireland based on several parameters that included  house prices, sunshine, proximity to a city and natural amenity or scenery.

Overall, Tipperary ranked joint 11 on the index, with the other top 11 counties all being counties with access to the coast.

The findings say "County Tipperary shares an overall ranking of 11 with Mayo. It is the highest ranked of the inland counties. It has reasonably priced housing (7th place) and is midtable for sunshine (12th place). Inhabitants of County Tipperary have a bit of a trek to the nearest city (ranking 13th for proximity to city). It ranks 16th for natural amenities."
