Nenagh Ormond Brass Band traveled to Cobh, County Cork, on Saturday, September 13, to serenade the people of Cobh under the bandstand in John F. Kennedy Park.
In addition to the Nenagh band, St. John’s Brass & Reed Band from Limerick was also invited to perform.
The event was organised by the Cobh Confraternity Brass and Reed Band, with support from the Arts Office of Cork County Council and Cobh Tourism.

The dramatic finale saw the Cobh, Nenagh, and St. John’s bands come together for a joint massed bands recital on the Port of Cork quayside, Cobh, for the departing passengers and crew of the cruise liner Regal Princess, which was carrying 3,600 passengers.
The present Nenagh Ormond Brass Band was formed in 1977 and is an integral part of the musical and cultural heritage of North Tipperary. It has performed at numerous local events and charity fundraisers.
Rebecca Key, the secretary for the Nenagh Ormond Brass Band said:
“they were delighted to be invited to play with Cobh Band and St John’s Brass and Reed Band this weekend. It was a fantastic day out for all and a great achievement for Cobh Band to organise this and host the day. Performing on the docks as part of the massed bands for the cruise ship was an occasion we will remember for a long time! We would like to thank Cobh Band for their hospitality and warm welcome, and hope we will meet again soon for more music making.”
