The first three months of 2026 saw 207 active claims

Tipperary County Council has reported approximately €10.8 million in active claims across 207 cases during the first three months of 2026, according to figures published in the council's June Management Report.

Claims relating to footpaths, roads and potholes were identified as the primary sources of claims, which is consistent with trends seen during the same period in previous years. Footpath-related claims accounted for the largest share, with 73 cases recorded, followed by road-related claims (45) and pothole-related claims (29).

The vast majority of active claims fall under public liability, representing 190 cases with a combined value of almost €10 million.

Property and motor claims account for a significantly smaller proportion of the total, with 13 active claims valued at approximately €700k combined.

In terms of claim values, most active cases fell within the lower-value bands of less than €50,000. However, 31 claims were valued at more than €75k, including seven worth between €150k and €250k, and one claim exceeding €250k.
