Gardai in Waterford detected seven drivers exceeding the speed limit by 40km/hr or more on Thursday morning.
The Waterford Roads Policing Unit set up a checkpoint on the 100km/hr zone Waterford bypass, with one van detected at 171 km/hr.
All of the drivers will receive Fixed Charge Notices in the coming days.
