A Tipperary grandad has gone viral after being surprised with tickets to Sunday's All-Ireland hurling final - and his reaction is pure gold.
It all started when his granddaughter Niamh Rice launched 'Operation Get Granda Jim to the All-Ireland Final' on TikTok, sharing photos of 86-year-old Jim in his Tipperary colours and calling for help getting him to Croke Park.
She described Jim as a proud Tipperary man who "loves his county" and "up until he was 80 he would steward games just to watch Tipperary" in the flesh, she explained.
"I'd love to see him watch his county in Croke Park this year if anyone has any ticket leads."
Her appeal struck a chord. Irish sportswear brand O'Neills stepped in, sending Jim a gift box with a Tipp jersey, a bucket hat, and two golden tickets to the sold-out clash against Cork.
In the now-viral video, Jim opens the box and reads a note aloud: "Jim, we hear you are a big Tipp fan. Enjoy your new gear for the big match."
After unwrapping his new jersey and hat, he discovers the tickets.
“Two tickets for me?" he asks, visibly stunned.
Niamh confirms: "Two tickets to the All-Ireland hurling final."
"Aw, that seems lovely," Jim manages to reply.
But it's his wife who steals the show.
Spotting the tickets, she exclaims: "Jesus, Mary and St Joseph, what have we here?"
When told O'Neills provided them, she lets out a hilariously blunt: "F***!" - to roars of laughter.
@spiceyricey0 @O'Neills Sportswear you’ve left Granda Jim speechlessthank you so much for helping me on my mission! #gaa #hurlingallireland #tipperary #hurling ♬ original sound - Niamh
The video has racked up nearly 200,000 views and over 20,000 likes since being posted Friday evening.
Jim will now be in the stands on Sunday as Tipperary take on Cork in a historic first-ever All-Ireland senior final meeting.
