'Me and Lee Chin are in the bath together' - 2 Johnnies reveal intimacy co-ordinator used for ad

The 2 Johnnies have revealed that they recently filmed a new ad for Bord Gáis alongside Wexford hurler Lee Chin that surprisingly required an intimacy co-ordinator on set. 

For anyone unfamiliar with what exactly an intimacy co-ordinator is as it is quite a new term in film and television, it refers to a professional who works with actors who are filming intimate scenes to ensure they are comfortable while working on set. 

Johnny B discussed what it was like working with the intimacy co-ordinator on set while in a bath with Lee Chin for hours when filming the new ad for Bord Gáis on the latest episode of the 2 Johnnies Podcast. 

Talking about the new TV ad, Johnny B said: "The plot of the ad is me and Lee Chin are in the bath together. He opens his eyes and is like 'what are you doing in the bath son?' - because he's from Wexford. And I say 'I'm saving on my energy and electricity bills, you know what I mean?'"

Then Johnny Smacks comes in at the end to join the pair in the bath. 

Johnny B explained: "Because myself and Lee Chin were in the bath together, both wearing nothing but shorts, we had an intimacy co-ordinator." He continued: "I suppose you have to have because we were touching knees for a couple of hours inside of the bath."

Talking about what it was like having the intimacy co-ordinator on set and what exactly she would do and say, he said she would instruct them: "Before you get in the bath, hi-five each other and let each other know you're ok. And when you get out of the bath, hi-five as well." Johnny B said: "Myself and Chin were hi-fiving getting in and out of the bath every time."

He continued: "You'd be filming and you'd be inside the bath and she'd come down honker down beside you and be like 'are you ok, is everything ok, are you sure?'"

Both Johnny B and Johnny Smacks said that their intimacy co-ordinator was "very professional" and was actually an actress herself. She would check in on them both constantly to make sure they were comfortable throughout the process.

At one point in the podcast, Johnny Smacks even revealed that each of them had stunt doubles in case they were needed to sit in the bath. However, they weren't actually used. 

Johnny B admitted: "I ended up being in that bathroom for about eight to ten hours I'd say, sweating my life out. I was inside the bath for nearly five or six hours."

Being in the bath for so long, he added there was even a medic on set to give himself and Lee Chin electrolytes and to check their temperatures. 

Johnny smacks laughed that after so long in there, Johnny B was "withered" after it all.
