The first heat of the Tipperary Battle of the Bands took place in Gleesons Clonmel with a sold-out crowd in attendance to see nine bands from across Tipperary compete for a place in the final.
The audience enjoyed a wide variety of music throughout the night, with styles ranging from indie rock to metal.
It proved to be a very tight competition, with the judges and public vote all closely contested.

After the scores were counted, three bands secured their place in the final.
They were, in first place, The Peadar Bradshaw Band, a blues /rock band from Clonmel, in second place were Basilisk a metal band from Newport and third were KYB, an all-female indie rock group from Clonmel.

The next heat of the competition will take place in Hickey’s, Thurles on March 22, where another group of hopeful bands will compete for the remaining places in the final.
