William Ryan, originally from Donaskeigh in county Tipperary, has been living in Japan since 2003.
He owns a pub called An Solas in Tokyo, and three years ago, he started a consultancy business to help fellow expats open their own bars, restaurants and coffee shops in Japan.
Last Friday, he was honored with the Entrepreneur of the Year 2024 award at the Ireland Japan Business Awards.
He was especially delighted when organisers renamed his table "Tipperary".
