Local councillor calls for road safety measures to be put in place on bridge in Tipperary

Cllr John O’Heney asked the Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District meeting this Monday, if the council would consider putting safety measures on Kilmoyler Bridge in Cahir.
A local councillor has asked for safety measures to be considered, on the bridge where a fatal accident occurred in Tipperary recently.
Cllr John O’Heney asked the Tipperary/Cahir/Cashel Municipal District meeting this Monday, if the council would consider putting safety measures on Kilmoyler Bridge in Cahir.
“I’ve just been asked to bring to the meeting’s attention, there was a terrible incident and tragedy down at the bridge in Kilmoyler, where a young lady passed away in a tragic incident.
"Several from the community have come to me to see if we could look at some safety measures for that bridge in terms of maybe a crash barrier or something. So this tragic incident won’t occur again."
James Murray, a senior engineer with the roads section of the council responded: “That’s still an ongoing Garda investigation so whatever comes out of the findings, if there’s something we need to do we’ll do it. We meet with the guards quite regularly on various issues like that."
