Carrick-on-Suir & District Lions Club has honoured William Hartery for his significant contribution to preserving the social history of Carrick-on-Suir through photos and film over decades.
The club made a presentation to Mr Hartery from Ballyneale at its recent awards night at Carrick-on-Suir’s Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre in recognition of his work capturing and preserving precious memories of the town and its hinterland for generations to come.
“His commitment and creativity continue to showcase the very best of our community,” said the Lions Club.
William’s great friend Liam Barry was also praised at the Lions Club awards night at which the winners of its Peace Poster competition and Young Ambassador of the 21st Century competition were announced.
Mr Hartery thanked everyone for ‘this honour’. He said his photography is a hobby he loves and spoke of how Liam travelled with him the length and breadth of the country equipped with their cameras.
