Gaelscoil Charraig na Siúire Principal Linda Nic an Bháird cuts the ribbon at the official opening of the school's new state-of-the-art
The official opening of Gaelscoil Charraig na Siúire's state-of-the-art new eight classroom school was marked by a joyful showcase of Irish culture performed by its students yesterday (Friday, April 18).
The outdoor show featuring wonderful performances of Irish dancing, music, singing and recitations in Irish by the school's students was a fitting celebration to honour the completion of the 28-year-old school's long-awaited permanent campus on the grounds of the town's former St Joseph's College.
It was enjoyed by an audience of over 200 guests including past pupils, parents of current and past past pupils and staff past and present as well as local politicians and other dignitaries.
Past pupil and Tipperary Senior hurler Stefan Tobin brought along the Liam MacCarthy Cup and addressed the opening ceremony in Irish. Another well-known past pupil who attended and spoke at the ceremony was RTE 2FM broadcaster Aindriú de Paor.
Gaelscoil Charraig na Siúire Principal Linda Níc an Bhaird cut the ceremonial ribbon to officially open the school and the school's chaplain Fr Tom Flynn blessed the new school that was finished just over a year ago and has been occupied by the school's students and staff since last May.
Check out next Wednesday's edition of The Nationalist for a more detailed report and more photographs from the official opening ceremony.
