No less than 20 Transition Year students at Rockwell College enjoyed a trip of a lifetime to China earlier this year.

The school shared some snaps from the unforgettable journey this week, and posted the following message:

"A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Joan Kennedy and Mr Patrick Egan, who travelled with 20 of our Transition Year students on an unforgettable 11-day trip to China this April. From early flights and jet lag to jam-packed days of learning and discovery, they were there every step of the way.

"But this trip didn’t just happen - it was the result of months of planning, preparation, and dedication. Both teachers travelled to China in advance to ensure everything was safe, enriching, and educational. They designed a thoughtful itinerary, coordinated with parents, and supported students throughout the journey.

"They worked closely with Niall Clarke, CEO of the Ireland China Cultural and Educational Centre (ICCEC), to guide the group through an inspiring programme. In Hangzhou, students were welcomed by local school leaders and took part in hands-on workshops in automation, robot creation, drone technologies, and music formation—just a glimpse of the incredible educational experiences on offer.

"And through it all, Mrs Kennedy and Mr Egan kept things running like clockwork—organising, encouraging, snapping photos, even doing laundry, sampling local dishes, and joining in the fun (including getting absolutely soaked on Disneyland’s Roaring Rapids ride!).

"We’re very grateful for the energy, care, and good humour they brought to the experience—and for helping to make this a journey that opened minds, built confidence, and created lifelong memories."
