Historic image brings new life to a Tipperary castle's hoarding
Cashel Tidy Town unveils historic castle display amid ongoing summer work
Cashel Tidy Town volunteers have been keeping busy throughout the summer as they continue their efforts to enhance the appearance of the town for residents and visitors alike.
With the recent spell of warm weather, a major focus has been on watering the many flower pots and planted beds throughout Cashel.
The group has expressed its sincere appreciation to the Cashel Community Employment Scheme for its assistance with this important work, as well as to the many local people who have offered their time and support to help keep the displays looking their best.
Volunteers have also been carrying out extensive weeding of shrub beds and footpaths across the town. While significant progress has been made, the group says there are still a number of areas that require attention and this work will continue over the coming weeks.
One of the highlights of this summer season has been the completion of a new visual enhancement project around the safety hoarding surrounding Kearney's Castle.
The hoarding, erected by the local authority to protect the public, has been transformed with a striking historic photograph of Cashel, believed to date from 1909, depicting the town on a bustling market day.
The project was completed in time for last weekend’s Music on the Plaza for the Cashel-Casalattico Cultural & Business Weekend. Cashel Tidy Town has extended special thanks to Lion Print, Cahir Road, Cashel, for its assistance in producing and installing the historic image, which has already received a positive reaction from the public.
