The group are embarking on a 640km Malin to Mizen head epic fundraiser for cancer research

Members of the Rock Pedallers came home to Cahsel to huge crowds of supporters on Friday evening, as the group took on the Malin to Mizen cycling challenge in special memory of the late Noreen Walsh.

Noreen was a member of the club, and her sister Bríd said that Noreen “ adored cycling and this challenge was one she often spoke of doing but sadly never achieved during her short life”.

The fundraising is especially for cancer research at Cork University Foundation, as Noreen suffered with Sarcoma cancer, a rare form which is lacking research and trials.

“The significance of The Rock Pedallers doing this means so much to us as Noreen's family and to all the members who are taking it on for Noreen” said Bríd on the gofundme page, which at on Friday evening was less than €80 shy of the goal of €80,000.

The Pedallers are in the midst of covering 640km over four days; on August 22 an estimated 1000 walked 5km in memory of Noreen.
