The proposed development would transform the existing retail space into a dedicated children’s sensory facility

A planning application to create a new sensory play area in Cashel has been submitted to Tipperary County Council this week for consideration.

The proposed development would involve the change of use of part of an existing retail area within a premises in the town into a dedicated sensory play space for children.

According to details contained in the application, no major construction works are planned as part of the project.

Instead, the development would focus on internal alterations, including the installation of partitions and the creation of designated spaces within the building.

Plans submitted outline an open-floor sensory area designed for interactive play, alongside a separate quiet room intended to provide a calm and relaxing environment for children who may require a more peaceful setting.

Tipperary County Council is scheduled to make a decision on the proposal by July 15 2026.
