A certified first-class relic of Padre Pio will be presented to a Tipperary parish

A relic of Saint Padre Pio will be presented to St Mary’s Church in Irishtown Clonmel on Monday.

The first class relic, a piece of the heart bandage, will be given to Fr Billy Meehan ,and it will go on permanent display in the church.

The relic is being presented by Joanne Golden, a member of a Padre Pio group based in Limerick affiliated to the head office in Dublin.

“There has been a very dedicated Padre Pio group in Clonmel for many years. We get a lot of phone calls from South Tipperary University Hospital requesting a look at the relic, and now Clonmel will have a relic of its own.
We receive a lot of calls from the Clonmel hospital, we received one from a young patient in intensive care recently, and we brought down a relic for that person to see,” said Joanne Golden.

She said that the Limerick group was delighted to hand over the relic to Clonmel.
“The Padre Pio group in Clonmel has very dedicated members, and now there is going to be a permanent relic in Clonmel,” said Joanne Golden.
