Local musicians are looking forward to the County Fleadh in Clonmel
Fleadh Cheoil Contae Thoibráid Árann (May 10th to 18th ) which will be held in Clonmel promises to be a week with something of interest for everyone.
This year there is a very diverse line up from various communities as well as a display of our Irish traditional culture.
This year the committee is bringing our traditional culture to a much wider audience by incorporating other community groups into the Fleadh programme.

Check out the following talks and events. All events are open to member of the public and free unless otherwise stated
On Saturday 10 the Powerstown/ Lisronagh branch is hosting the Park Run. Musicians will play a few tunes to get the runners on their way. On Sunday 11 May a Tráth na gCeist is taking place for local primary schools in Moyle Rovers.
Prizegiving of the local primary school arts competition will also take place that night.
On Monday 12 May Clonmel Historical Society are showing a Bianconi Documentary in the Main Guard at 8pm .
On Tuesday 13 May Aoife Nic Giolla Coad from South Tipperary Beekeepers Association is giving a talk for non- beekers with light info and fun facts from 11.30-12.30 in the Library.
That evening Róisín de Barra is hosting a Pop up Gaeltacht in Carey’s pub at 8pm. On Wednesday 14 May there will be Songs and Poems of Percy French with Jim of the Mills from 6.45 to 7.45 in the Library. At 8.15 pm Shay Hurley will present the history of the Clonmel’s Workmans’ s Boatclub and the development of the Suir Island project. On Thursday the 15th form 2-4pm Bernie Lennon will lead the Marlfield Heritage Train: ‘The Story of Water’ .
This is a 4km trail starting at St Patrick’s Chapel. Bring water and good walking shoes. That evening the Comortas Dramaíocht na Gaeilge is taking place for local primary schools in the Gaelchóláiste at 7pm.
As well as these community events and talks the Fleadh week programme includes the following music events: On Saturday 10th April there will be a session with local branches Cahir, Cashel and Kilcash in The Princess Bar at 9pm.
On Sunday 11 the branch is hosting a Steady Session for improver and intermediate adult musicians. Check out our social media for the venue. On Monday 12 May the Ryan brothers are hosting a session in Baker’s Bar at 9pm. On Thursday 13th May musicians from the Gaelscoil are visiting the Day Care Center in Irish town to share tunes, songs and dance.

On Wednesday 14th May there is a session with Pat Doheny, Pat Ryan and Patsy McCormack in Lonergan’s Pub from 8- 10pm. Tadhg Maher is hosting a singing circle in Carey’s Pub at 9pm on Thursday 15 May. Railway Bar is hosting a session that night at 9om ‘Thursday night at Kitty’s.
