School in Tipperary has upped its game with new all-weather pitch

There was a great air of excitement at Clerihan National School recently when the school’s new astro turf pitch was officially opened by Deputy Michael Murphy.

In her speech, the principal Denise Fleming acknowledged that this latest development was made possible thanks to the generosity of families and the wider school community, both past and present.

The project was the brainchild of Board of Management member Mike Kennedy, who, together with parents Kieran Ryan, Chris Molloy and Bryan English, brought the initiative to completion.

The local Men’s Shed also contributed by giving their time to support the project.

The pupils of Clerihan National School are fortunate to benefit from such dedicated parents and first-class facilities.

As Deputy Murphy noted, Clerihan school is truly a centre of educational excellence, with a committed staff and amenities to match.

Fr Peter Brennan blessed the new pitch and all who will use it.

The celebrations continued in the school hall, where refreshments were provided by the Parents’ Association.

It was a memorable and proud day for the entire Clerihan National School community.
